Falling in October, Black History Month, our screening of Romeo Must Die will be a special and powerful event that will for the first time in the UK convene Black and East & Southeast Asian (ESEA) audiences in a shared community event to celebrate Blasian Pride. This film brings together Jet Li and Aaliyah and asks the question, what does this film say about ESEA and Black communities then and now?

Our London screening will be accompanied with a Q&A featuring Nicole Ocran, Juice Aleem and Kyami. The discussion will be moderated by Micallar Walker.

After the London screening MilkTea and Dark Matter will also be hosting a Filmmaker Talent Mixer for Black and Asian filmmakers. If this is you and you'd like to come, RSVP HERE. Capacity is extremely limited!

In November we will celebrate the iconic Fist of Fury on 27 November, which marks the grandmaster's 80th birthday. This film not only established Bruce Lee as a global martial arts superstar, but its portrayal of racial discrimination and social injustice reflected the real-world tensions and struggles faced by many communities.

The London screening will be followed by a Q&A panel of local action choreographers and stunt people to discuss the industry to give our audience more insights into the making of action films and the significance of this movie on the action genre.

MilkTea shows the best of East & Southeast Asian cinema in the UK. Our work begins with screenings, but our goal is to build inclusion, communities & audiences.

Dark Matter is an inclusive marketing agency that works collaboratively to connect Black audiences with culture and the arts.
