Sun, sea and all-night partying on a secluded tropical island. Sounds like a dream, right? Well, if the movies have taught us anything, it's always to be a little suspicious of an offer that sounds too good to be true.

But when Frida (Naomi Ackie) is invited to be part of an exclusive, all-inclusive bash on a private island belonging to tech mogul Slater King (Channing Tatum), she jumps at the chance. Along with her friend Jess (Alia Shawkat), Frida jets off to make some memories in the company of Slater's bro squad and a plethora of other beautiful young women.

However, in Blink Twice, the directorial debut of Zoë Kravitz, Frida will have to keep her wits about her if she wants to survive – because things may not seem as they appear.

Co-written by Kravitz and E.T. Feigenbaum – who first worked together on the High Fidelity television series – this taut, topical black comedy thriller has a pretty stacked cast, including Christian Slater, Adria Arjona, Simon Rex, Haley Joel Osment, Kyle MacLachlan and Geena Davis alongside Ackie and Tatum.

Before taking up directing duties, Kravitz was an accomplished actress, having starred in Mad Max: Fury Road, Big Little Lies and The Batman.

While Frida and Jess's holiday of a lifetime initially seems like a dream come true, things slowly start to fall apart. Is everyone really having as good a time as they claim they are? Why can't anyone trust their own memories suddenly? Then, in a sinister twist, Jess goes missing and there's no trace of her ever being on the island.

If Frida is going to get to the bottom of trouble in paradise and learn the truth about Slater King, she'll need allies – who are few and far between this deep in enemy territory. She recruits fellow guest Sarah (Adria Arjona) in the hope they can figure out how to make it off the island alive.

Perfect for fans of the twisty thrills found in films like Get Out, Ready Or Not and Glass Onion, Blink Twice is set to be one of the most memorable films of the summer, complete with an A-list cast and an enviable setting.

Good news: you don't have to risk it all on a playboy's dangerous island to experience Blink Twice… simply grab your popcorn and a drink, sit back and get set for the pulse-pounding trip of a lifetime.   Hannah Strong
