Code-named ‘Maverick’, Pete Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is an impetuous Navy pilot, newly accepted into Miramar's elite Fighter School – also known as 'Top Gun'.

There, he and his wingman and best friend Goose (Anthony Edwards) compete with the best of the best, under the eye of a beguiling civilian instructor (Kelly McGillis), whilst also contending with the mysterious circumstances surrounding his veteran father’s death.
