It’s the 1930s, and doctor Burt Berendsen (Christian Bale), lawyer Harold Woodsman (John David Washington) and nurse Valerie Voze (Margot Robbie) find themselves murder suspects when a U.S. senator dies under mysterious circumstances. The trio, whose tight friendship was forged in free-wheeling post-war Amsterdam, must prove their innocence, track down the real guilty party, and connect the dots to uncover the truth of a sprawling conspiracy.
