The Smeds and The Smoos

The Smeds and The Smoos is based on the enchanting outer space adventure written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, the UK’s best-selling picture book duo. It was first published by Alison Green Books, an imprint of Scholastic in 2019. This is Magic Light’s tenth animated adaptation of a tale by the award-winning creators. The previous films have secured their places firmly as family favourites at Christmas time on BBC One.

On a faraway planet, Janet and Bill meet in the Wurpular Wood and fall in love. Their families, The Smeds, and The Smoos cannot accept the match after generations of division. But when the two run away to elope, the warring families have no choice but to overcome their differences and work together to find the young Smoo, and the young Smed.
