DIRECTOR: Andrew Haigh
WITH: Andrew Scott, Paul Mescal, Jamie Bell, Claire Foy

What better way to wrap up an emotional and though-provoking season of films, than with the latest feature from WEEKEND and 45 YEARS director-screenwriter Andrew Haigh, who has adapted Taichi Yamada’s 1987 novel Strangers, in this powerful, supernatural meditation of loneliness, romance and healing. Andrew Scott plays Adam, a writer in his 40's living alone in a quiet London flat, who encounters his neighbour Harry (Paul Mescal) one night, and after a passionate meet-cute, a deeper connection begins to emerge between them. However, upon returning to his childhood home, Adam discovers the youthful ghosts of his parents living in the house, and instead of being spooked by their presence, takes this as an opportunity to share with them his life as an adult, to open up about his sexuality and embrace in this unusual reunion.

"The chemistry between Scott and Mescal in their scenes is atomic" - Hannah Strong, Little White Lies.

The Cambridge Film Festival is presented by the Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity with a mission to foster film culture and education for the benefit of the public, in Cambridge, the Eastern region, and throughout the UK.
