Spring 2024 is here and 2POCC is back to host ‘An Evening of POCC Shorts’ with special Industry Guests. This is set to be another amazing edition of The 2POCC Film Club evening at Picturehouse, in collaboration with Dark Matter!

We will be looking at collective storytelling through traditions, culture and identity in film and we are excited to screen the work of four incredible filmmakers. 

You will be coming along to watch; Sunday Dinner by Monique Needham, Zimmers of Southall by Hark1Karan, Beneath a Mother’s Feet by Elias Suhail and The Call by Riffy Ahmed. 

Followed by our usual Q&A with the filmmakers where we will get to learn about their inspirations, creative processes and shared ideas for navigating the industry. 

Come and enjoy, take inspiration and grab the opportunity to meet other members of the POCC Filmmaker community. 

Please arrive at 6:00pm, seating is at 6:15pm and our screenings start at 6:30pm. Join us afterwards for drinks and hellos at the Picturehouse bar.

Sunday Dinner by Monique Needham - @getneeks 

Sunday Dinner follows the story of Maya, a young Jamaican-British woman who enlists the help of her grandmother to keep her quirky family in line when her girlfriend comes to dinner. 

Monique Needham is a Jamaican-British writer and director, born and raised in North West London. Passionate about broadening the type of stories told about black folk. 


Zimmers of South Hall Part One & Two by Hark1karan - @Hark1karan

‘Zimmers of Southall’ is a documentary series which casts a new and captivating spotlight on BMW cars, offering an authentic window into the lives of devoted BMW classic car collectors in West London's Punjabi community and their deep-seated passion for dub reggae music. 

Hark1karan is a Community Photographer and Outsider Artist. He takes photos of Punjabis, Sikhs, and various aspects of London culture. 


Beneath A Mother’s Feet by Elias Suhail - @dar_elias 

A single mother in Morocco, trapped in a mundane existence, confronts her dreams and fears, leading to the agonising decision to forsake all she knows, even her children. 

Elias Suhail (Writer/Director) is a British-Moroccan writer and filmmaker becoming known for his stories that challenge conventions and push boundaries. 

Arij Al-Soltan (Producer) is a British-Iraqi producer-director based in the UK. Having spent many years developing her independent work, she finally set out to make her own films in 2017 andhas since developed a body of work that attempts to offer an alternative perspective and a sense of self-introspection. 


The Call by Riffy Ahmed - @riffypowerz 

During a difficult visit to her single immigrant mother, Athena discovers that what she thought was age-related mental decline is in fact an inherited magical gift. 

Riffy Ahmed is an award-winning Writer/Director, and Visual Artist based in London. She trained as a visual artist at Central Saint Martins, and graduated with a masters in Directing fiction at NFTS with a full scholarship from Channel 4 in 2020.
