OUT: Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

Three Sydney showgirls with problems – Felicia, Mitzi and Bernadette – are invited to play a four-week cabaret engagement at a resort hotel in Alice Springs, in the middle of Australia’s red desert.

It seems like the perfect opportunity to leave their troubles behind them, at least for a while, but the trip isn’t as straightforward as it seems: Felicia and Mitzi are drag queens and Bernadette is a transgender woman, and meeting their type in the outback is not a normal occurrence.

Naming the bus they are to travel in Priscilla, and cramming her with a sparkling assortment of frocks and stilettos, they set off with music blaring in the direction of the Outback. Along the way they break down, dress up, perform in unlikely places and encounter hilarity, hostility, incomprehension and acceptance.
