The Full Monty

Gaz (Robert Carlyle) and Dave (Mark Addy) are two newly unemployed steelworkers in industrial Sheffield, on the dole after economic downturn in their community.

Desperate for money and inspired by local women lining up for the touring Chippendales, the pair decide to create their own male strip-tease act, recruiting four more men – including their former foreman (Tom Wilkinson) – as they dubiously prepare to ‘go the Full Monty’ and get completely naked.

Armed with good-natured wit and a wink, Peter Cattaneo’s homegrown smash-hit comedy tackles more serious issues than its ribald plot suggests, but never sacrifices laughs in the name of touching hearts.
