WITH: Jouke De Ruiter, Jouke Anne De Ruiter, Lya De Ruiter, John Creedon

Irish filmmaker Eoin McGowan follows the De Ruiter family as they work together on their hobby and small business in the Beara Peninsula, during 6 months of the honey bee season.

A beautiful observation of the relationship between man and the honey bee, this documentary sticks close to a family of intergenerational beekeepers hived in West Cork, Ireland. After 25 years in Ireland, the De Ruiter family are continuously adapting to nature, facing the challenges that the landscape brings.

Through the imagination of the family, we explore bees in folklore and the environmental challenges we face, with the help of poetry, original music and stunning scenery.

The Cambridge Film Festival is presented by the Cambridge Film Trust, a registered charity with a mission to foster film culture and education for the benefit of the public, in Cambridge, the Eastern region, and throughout the UK.
