The New Black Film Collective presents an exclusive screening of The Six Triple Eight, followed by a panel discussion with special guest speakers.
The Six Triple Eight is inspired by the first and only US Black Women’s Army Corps unit to serve overseas in WWII. Given an extraordinary mission in the UK and united in their determination, these unsung heroes delivered hope and shattered barriers.
Kerry Washington (Scandal, Django Unchained), Ebony Obsidian (If Beale Street Could Talk) and Oprah Winfrey (The Color Purple, Selma) star in the world-renowned director Tyler Perry's newest feature.
Followed by an esteemed panel of guest speakers including Harlynn Homan (Senior Archivist - Black Cultural Archives), Selena Carty (Global War Heritage Specialist, Founder of the BlackPoppyRose CIC & BlackRose of Remembrance), Garry Stewart (UK Ambassador for the 6888th in Birmingham) and hosted by Charmaine Simpson (Co-Founder of Black History Studies).
