The Big Sleep

Private detective Philip Marlowe (Humphrey Bogart) is hired by a rich family. Before the complex case is over, he's seen murder, blackmail, and what might be love.

The wealthy General Sternwood enlists him to resolve the gambling debts of his wild youngest daughter, Carmen – and from there, Marlowe finds himself deep within a Los Angeles web of love triangles, gambling, and organized crime. 

With help from Vivian (Lauren Bacall), another of the general's daughters, Marlowe hatches a plot to free the family from this web and trap the real culprit.
