This month, the Duke’s After Dark team - under a haze of love magic - have been seduced into choosing Anna Biller’s spellbinding ode to 60’s Technicolour B-movies, THE LOVE WITCH, for the Dukes’ next late-night movie.
Elaine, a modern-day witch (a divine Samantha Robinson) moves to a small Californian town and in pursuit of her dream romance casts her spell over the men of the town with deadly consequences. A melodramatic concoction, one part reflection of the societal fear of the femme fatale, one part a feminist examination of relationship dynamics, with a dash of aesthetics so immaculate as to die for.
