A lonely, aging movie star named Bob Harris (Bill Murray) and a conflicted newlywed, Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson), meet in Tokyo.
Bob is there to film a Japanese whiskey commercial; Charlotte is accompanying her celebrity-photographer husband.
