Set in a never-more-cinematic San Francisco, Vertigo creates a dizzying web of mistaken identity, passion and murder around acrophobic detective John 'Scottie' Ferguson (James Stewart).
An acquaintance from his college days approaches Scottie and asks him to follow his beautiful wife, Madeleine (Kim Novak), whom he fears is going insane. Scottie is sceptical, but agrees to the assignment after he sees the beautiful Madeleine – and as he follows her to increasingly dizzying heights, he must unravel the secrets of the past to find the key to his future.
