Writing for Radio and Podcasts Taster

with Abigail Webber

Sun 20 Oct, 11am - 1pm

£20

Whether you’re a traditional Radio 4 Drama listener or prefer to find your stories on Spotify, if you’re a fan of audio drama, this is the class for you. We’ll look at traditional radio drama broadcasting and commissioning, and how the audio world has expanded with the growth of podcast platforms. For both, though, the principles of creating an audio drama remain the same: writing for a smaller, much more intimate audience, through the medium of sound – voice, music, effects and silence. It requires different writing muscles to screenwriting but many of the principles remain the same: character and story structure are just as important, but dialogue plays a much more dominant role.

As ever, there will be opportunities to write, workshop and meet other writers.
