Once in a generation, there is a spectacular cinematic event that defies even gravity itself. Escape to the Land of Oz for this wickedly enchanting adventure that details the backstory of the Wicked Witch of the West from the timeless classic, The Wizard Of Oz.

Left behind are the knee-high striped stockings and stereotypical evil laugh; what remains is a heartfelt tale about a misunderstood green-skinned witch, Elphaba, who is trying to find her place in the world. Outcast and ridiculed for her natural verdancy, Elphaba dreams of acceptance from her peers and to be celebrated for her remarkable gifts.

With her sights on becoming the Wizard's apprentice, Elphaba joins a magical school where she strikes up the unlikeliest of friendships with her perfectly groomed roommate, Glinda. Well regarded for her light, joyous magic and infectious warmth and kindness, Glinda is to all intents and purposes Elphaba's contrast, with her sights set on popularity and owning an all-pink wardrobe.

Broadway legend Cynthia Erivo takes on the role of Elphaba opposite the award-winning global phenomenon Ariana Grande as Glinda. Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum round out the lead cast in the Emerald City as Fiyero, Madame Morrible and the Wizard of Oz respectively.

Based on the Tony-Award-winning musical of the same name, Glinda and Elphaba are characters drawn from L. Frank Baum's 1900 novel, The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz, as Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba the Wicked Witch. However, that was only one side of the story. The original story posits one is born wicked. Instead, good and evil co-exists within us all, as told through this coming-of-age tale of two witches wanting to forge their own identity and break free of the role society has prescribed for them.

Bound by destiny and seduced by power, this unique friendship is tested when their paths diverge as their fellow Ozians try to convince these two allies that they were supposed to be enemies. Wicked is a reflection of the profound impact that one person can have on another's life. It also proves that true friendship can even defy destiny itself.

Told across two parts, this empowering spectacle is filled with wizardry and wonder for all ages to enjoy. Expect stunning set pieces and a spine-tingling experience that is best seen on the big screen, offering a magical new world to enter this winter at Picturehouse.
